PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Manual Guthrie (ranked 5490 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owin Boon (ranked 7216 p4p, 0 weight class). Boon is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Coming Home. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Boon throws an elbow but Guthrie slips to the side and avoids it well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Guthrie is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Guthrie gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Guthrie gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Guthrie apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Guthrie gets tackled into the cage by Boon. Boon maintains the clinch.

Guthrie is trying to trip Boon. He has hold of a leg but Boon is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Guthrie persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Boon has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Guthrie is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Boon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Guthrie's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Guthrie manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Guthrie drops down looking for an ankle pick but Boon pulls his leg out and moves away.

Boon manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Guthrie on his heels. He'll look to pass Guthrie's guard now, I'm sure.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Guthrie connects with a nice short shot to Boon's temple.
