The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marida has closed the distance and engaged St Pierre in a clinch.

Marida has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed St Pierre clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
St Pierre grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Marida is trying to stick to St Pierre's back but St Pierre is turning into Marida. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Marida's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by St Pierre.
Marida has momentary wrist control but St Pierre slips an elbow through the middle.

St Pierre is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
St Pierre won't allow Marida to get back to his feet.
St Pierre wants to control from the top but Marida keeps moving.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
St Pierre wants to pass the guard but Marida is keeping the position.

St Pierre stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marida swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Marida wants to stand and escape but St Pierre is having none of it.

St Pierre thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
St Pierre stops Marida from standing up.

Marida scrambles and gets back to his feet.

St Pierre clinches up with Marida and pushes him back against the cage.

Marida has St Pierre pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Marida pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending St Pierre tumbling to the mat - Marida dives into St Pierre's guard.

Marida got a little sloppy there for a moment and St Pierre has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Marida has managed to get both his arms back between St Pierre's legs - danger averted.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Marida postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! St Pierre covers up, he's hurt! Marida keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Marida and the ref steps in to end the fight! Marida can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
