Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Icy Furno (ranked 5483 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aldo Shupe (ranked 4263 p4p, 0 weight class). Aldo Shupe will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Icy Furno !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Aldo Shupe!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Furno swats away the attempt to clinch by Shupe.
Shupe tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Shupe clinches up against the cage.
Shupe misses with a punch on the inside.
Shupe prevents Furno from breaking the clinch.
Shupe lands with a left to the head.

Shupe breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shupe moves in looking to clinch but Furno pushes him off.
Furno looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Shupe fails with an attempt to clinch.
Furno drops down looking for a counter takedown but Shupe sprawls and moves away.
Furno avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Furno gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Furno manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shupe manages to get himself to full guard.

Shupe can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Furno controls the pace.
Furno lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Shupe looking for a guillotine here but Furno defends easily.
Shupe doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shupe can do anything to dispel that myth.

Shupe throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Furno escapes and throws Shupe's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Shupe tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Furno wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Furno is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Furno gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Furno gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Furno apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Aldo Shupe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Furno closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Furno lands in his opponent's guard.
Furno pushes down on Shupe's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Furno slows the pace down in half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shupe closes the distance and clinches.

Furno pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Shupe tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Furno drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Shupe tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Furno is staying tight to Shupe's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Furno prevents Shupe from escaping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Furno is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Furno 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Furno keeps the fight on the outside.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Furno tries to stall but Shupe uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Furno looking to slow down the pace here.
Shupe is looking to take this one to the mat.
A nice left hand lands by Shupe.

Furno breaks the clinch.
Furno is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shupe can do to turn this around?
Furno avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Shupe instigates a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Shupe.
Furno manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Shupe trying to control the position but instead, Furno has worked for underhooks and has pushed Shupe into the cage.

The referee is keeping an eye on Furno - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Shupe tries to throw a body punch but Furno avoids it by throwing Shupe back against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Shupe.

Furno breaks from the clinch.
No luck for Shupe with that takedown attempt.
Shupe scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shupe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Furno tries to sprawl but Shupe drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Furno gets back to full guard.
Shupe being controlled here momentarily.
Furno utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Furno is on top in guard.

Furno looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Furno lands a couple of digs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Icy Furno will probably get the nod.
That's time! Furno 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Shupe jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Furno walks away with a smile on his face. Shupe gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Shupe tries to clinch but Furno is having none of it.
Shupe doesn't manage to clinch there - Furno circles away.
Furno circles away from the clinch attempt.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Furno is defended easily by Shupe.
Shupe tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Furno defends well and Shupe ends up having to push Furno into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Furno feinted with a counter takedown.

Shupe tries to clinch there but Furno circles away.
Shupe moves to clinch but Furno breaks away

and Furno counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Furno is working Shupe over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Shupe is looking for a triangle here but Furno uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Shupe is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Furno is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Furno controlling the pace for now.

Furno controlling the position easily from mount.
Shupe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Furno . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Shupe is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Furno content just to control the position here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Shupe tries to hold on but Furno postures up.
Aldo Shupe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Icy Furno is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Furno looking to control and managing it successfully.

And that's the end of the fight!
Icy Furno showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Furno , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
