Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shane Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Gracie sprawling to the canvas! Gracie rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Hunter finish him?!


It looks like Don Gracie has been cut.
Gracie stuffs the takedown.
Shane Hunter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gracie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gracie is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Hunter is retaining full guard.

Hunter will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hunter misses with a takedown attempt

and Gracie counters with a shoot takedown. Hunter fights it but they end up in guard.
Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hunter is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gracie asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Hunter tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gracie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hunter tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunter wants to hold on but Gracie pushes him away.
Hunter is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Gracie wants to take his opponent's back but Hunter doesn't allow it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hunter is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Gracie is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hunter can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Gracie is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hunter is surviving well by controlling Gracie's body position as best he can.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hunter can't escape the position.
Gracie tries to control but Hunter wriggling away.

Gracie avoids the attempt from Hunter to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Don Gracie will probably get the nod.

Hunter tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Gracie counters with a takedown into side control.

Hunter throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Hunter is retaining full guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hunter has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Gracie controlling the position well here. Hunter rolled but Gracie kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Hunter is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gracie gets his way!
Hunter is trying to stand back up.
Well, with Gracie on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Hunter is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hunter is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gracie gets his way!

Hunter wants to get back to his feet.
Hunter is trying to break free.

Gracie really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Hunter.
Hunter trying to control the action but Gracie just sinks the hooks in.

Gracie is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Let's hope that Gracie has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Don Gracie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gracie circles away from the clinch attempt

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Gracie is just content to waste time from the top position. Hunter takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Don Gracie just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hunter throws a leg kick but Gracie sees it coming and checks it nicely.

and Gracie decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hunter's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Gracie slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Gracie trying to control but Hunter is working from the bottom.
Hunter tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hunter is looking to stand back up but Gracie counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Hunter.

Gracie has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Hunter defend it? Gracie steps over the head and cranks it - Hunter is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Gracie!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Don Gracie!
