The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson slips a jab and a cross from Desoruta.
Thompson is looking for a counter combo.
Desoruta throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Thompson moves into the clinch.
Thompson prevents Desoruta from breaking the clinch.
Thompson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Desoruta after a bit of a struggle.
Desoruta is trying to force a seperation but Thompson has the dominant position.
Thompson tries to pull guard but Desoruta forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Thompson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Thompson manages to end up in side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Thompson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Desoruta is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Desoruta is looking to regain half guard here but Thompson keeps moving and retains side control.

Desoruta regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Thompson.

Desoruta manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Thompson can't get the takedown.
Desoruta will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Thompson up against the cage.
Desoruta wants to break the clinch but can't.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Thompson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Desoruta to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Desoruta tries to bum rush Thompson with a series of wild strikes but Thompson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Alatrina Desoruta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Desoruta shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Desoruta was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Desoruta is looking to take a break and control but Thompson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Desoruta lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Thompson circles away quickly and effectively.

Horrible takedown attempt by Thompson or perhaps it was just good defense by Desoruta, which made it look bad.

Desoruta darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Desoruta throws a right and a left that Thompson avoids nicely.

Thompson tries to kick Desoruta off but Desoruta keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Desoruta perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Desoruta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thompson keeps working.
Desoruta misses with a head shot. Thompson uses the momentum to regain guard.
Desoruta wants to control from the top but Thompson keeps moving.

Well Desoruta has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
