The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brightman shoots in looking for a takedown. Woodard tries to sprawl out of it but Brightman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Woodard manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Woodard throws a quick counter head kick but Brightman was just out of range.
Woodard throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Brightman on the side of the head.
Brightman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Woodard pinned against the cage. Woodard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Garret Woodard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Apollo Brightman.
Brightman shoots for a double leg takedown but Woodard sprawls well. He's pushed Brightman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Woodard rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Brightman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Brightman steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Woodard.
Brightman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Brightman jumps guard but Woodard stands there with Brightman around his waist. Brightman gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Brightman ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Brightman no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Woodard drops back looking for a leg! Brightman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Brightman manages to kick Woodard off! Woodard jumps back into Brightman's guard.

Woodard decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Woodard throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Brightman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Woodard.

A big right followed by a crushing left from Brightman knocks Woodard out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
