Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wilton Trevino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Robert Hongo!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trevino is looking to clinch but Hongo is avoiding it.
Hongo changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

and Hongo counters with a takedown into side control.

Trevino explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
The fight stays on the outside here - Trevino looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Trevino misses with a head shot. Hongo uses the momentum to regain guard.

Trevino throws a strike but Hongo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Trevino is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hongo is aware though and is defending well.
Hongo looking to sit in guard and control but Trevino gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Trevino throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hongo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hongo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Trevino is concentrating on defense, preventing Hongo from advancing position.

Hongo is trying to control. Trevino wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Trevino is looking to control Hongo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Trevino avoid being mounted?
Hongo not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hongo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Trevino is just riding it out for now. Hongo eventually gives up the hold.

Hongo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Trevino has managed to free his arm - good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Wilton Trevino will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Trevino tightens his grip and picks Hongo up, before dumping him to the ground. Hongo manages to land in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Trevino. Hongo does a little dance to reset his feet.

Trevino lands a high kick!
Trevino changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hongo tries to avoid it but Trevino manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hongo to the ground. Hongo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Trevino tries to clinch there but Hongo circles away.

and Hongo counters with a single leg into guard. Trevino didn't expect that.
Hongo looking to sit in guard and control but Trevino gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Robert Hongo has got the better of the ground game so far.
Trevino connects with a couple of short punches.

Hongo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Trevino doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Trevino manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hongo throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Trevino stands and steps away. Hongo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hongo is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Trevino tries to work over Hongo's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hongo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Trevino wants to sweep but no luck.

That was a close second round but I would say that Wilton Trevino will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Hongo tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

and Hongo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Trevino won't be happy with that.
Trevino tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Trevino might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Trevino is working to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hongo has control of Trevino's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Trevino regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Trevino tries to hold on but Hongo pushes him away.

Trevino is desperately trying to improve his position but Hongo has a good base and remains in mount.

Hongo pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Trevino knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hongo on the ground.

Hongo goes for an armbar but Trevino turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Trevino.

Hongo wriggles free and stands up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hongo blocks a head kick by Trevino.
Wilton Trevino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hongo drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Trevino defends it well.

and Hongo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Trevino won't be happy with that.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hongo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Trevino is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Hongo is trying to get an arm triangle but Trevino is defending well.

Hongo happy to just control the position for now.

Hongo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Robert Hongo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Trevino has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
