Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marc Gardner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Birger Nielsen!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Dean Styles and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nielsen looks for a takedown but Gardner sprawls well.
Gardner closes the distance but Nielsen moves to the side
and Nielsen counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Nielsen shoots in for a double leg but Gardner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Birger Nielsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nielsen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gardner to the ground. Nielsen is now in Gardner's guard.
Gardner wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Nielsen manages to pass to side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gardner is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Nielsen scores with a couple of nice shots.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nielsen is trying to work for a kimura but Gardner is defending well.

Nielsen takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Nielsen tries to stand but can't do so whilst Gardner controls his leg.

Nielsen wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Gardner uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gardner is trying to control the position but Nielsen postures up.
Nielsen is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Nielsen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Nielsen drops back looking for a leg! Gardner is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gardner manages to kick Nielsen off! Nielsen jumps back into Gardner's guard.

Gardner wants to sweep but no luck.
Nielsen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
It looks like Nielsen might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Nielsen is in close to Gardner's body, working some short punches and elbows.
It looks like Marc Gardner has been cut.
Gardner might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Nielsen lands a couple of digs.
Gardner is rocked!
Nielsen stands up over Gardner, holding on to his feet. Nielsen throws the legs to one side and dives in with a huge shot that lands flush on the chin! Gardner is out cold! Nielsen lands a couple more shots and the ref tackles him out of the way! What a brutal finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Birger Nielsen!
