Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Hagan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arjen Van Slang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and James Atkins.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Slang throws a right and a left that both miss.
Van Slang looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Hagan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hagan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Van Slang, who protects the arm well.

Hagan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Van Slang is looking for a sweep.
Van Slang wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Van Slang tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Van Slang manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hagan's best efforts.
Hagan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Van Slang with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hagan wants to stand up but Van Slang is controlling the position.

Hagan is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Van Slang!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hagan cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Hagan moves to the back position.

Hagan is trying to stick to Van Slang's back but Van Slang is turning into Hagan. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hagan's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Van Slang.
Van Slang connects with a couple of short punches.
Van Slang looks gassed!

Van Slang is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hagan had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Van Slang is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hagan Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Van Slang's back instead.

Hagan lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
This has been an exciting period of action!
You can see the frustration on Van Slang's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
