PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vasily Boyko (ranked 5366 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saxon Deasmhumhain (ranked 6434 p4p, 0 weight class). Deasmhumhain has chosen Whole Lotta Love as his entrance music. Vasily Boyko looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deasmhumhain misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Boyko shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Deasmhumhain has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Boyko off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Deasmhumhain is trying to control Boyko's posture but Boyko avoids it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Boyko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Deasmhumhain keeps working.
Deasmhumhain is looking to control Boyko's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Deasmhumhain avoid being mounted?
Boyko lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Boyko is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Deasmhumhain defends it well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Boyko seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Deasmhumhain does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Deasmhumhain is pressing down on Boyko's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Boyko is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Boyko needs to keep his hands up - Deasmhumhain had a free shot at his head there.

That was a close round but I would say that Vasily Boyko will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Boyko shoots in looking for a takedown but Deasmhumhain manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Boyko's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vasily Boyko. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Vasily Boyko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close second round but I would say that Vasily Boyko will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Deasmhumhain lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Boyko circles away quickly and effectively.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Deasmhumhain.

Deasmhumhain throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Boyko tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Deasmhumhain is in Boyko's guard.

Boyko throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Deasmhumhain was covering up waiting for the punch and Boyko finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Boyko drops back, looking for a kneebar! Deasmhumhain looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Deasmhumhain looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Deasmhumhain!

Deasmhumhain stands up.

Boyko gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Boyko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Boyko's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Deasmhumhain connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Boyko scrambles back to his feet.

Boyko throws a series of punches but Deasmhumhain avoids them all with ease.
Vasily Boyko is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Deasmhumhain throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Boyko.
A looping hook to the body misses from Deasmhumhain. Boyko does a little dance to reset his feet.

Boyko closes the distance and clinches.

Boyko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Saxon Deasmhumhain seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Boyko feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Deasmhumhain is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Boyko defends well.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Vasily Boyko.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Boyko, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
