The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Kavanagh and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swogger tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Villarreal manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Swogger gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Villarreal breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Villarreal throws a lazy right hand but Swogger sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Villarreal tries to clinch
and Swogger counters with a straight right hand.
Villarreal fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Swogger to the ground. Villarreal is now in Swogger's guard.
Villarreal scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Villarreal lands a couple of digs.
Villarreal lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Villarreal will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Swogger looks winded!

Villarreal throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Swogger works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Swogger wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Villarreal manages to pass to side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Villarreal takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
