Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rupeni Veitayaki (ranked 4536 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liber Alderich (ranked 2732 p4p, 0 weight class). Veitayaki comes to the cage accompanied by The Cibi . Alderich has chosen Till I collapse as his entrance music. Rupeni Veitayaki has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rupeni Veitayaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Liber Alderich!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alderich throws a series of punches but Veitayaki moves out of range.
Veitayaki throws a big counter combination but Alderich scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Alderich closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Alderich lands in his opponent's guard.
Alderich tries to free his leg and advance position but Veitayaki is retaining full guard.
Veitayaki is trying to keep Alderich in close.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Alderich's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Veitayaki wants to get back to his feet but Alderich is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Alderich tries to free his leg and advance position but Veitayaki is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alderich slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Alderich creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Alderich content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
It looks like Alderich might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alderich in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Alderich has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Alderich cracks Veitayaki with a big right hand but Veitayaki just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Alderich in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Veitayaki is trying to improve his position.
Alderich is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Veitayaki will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Alderich lands some shots froms side control.
My spies in Winds of Winter inform me that Alderich has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Alderich is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Veitayaki will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Alderich thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Veitayaki gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Veitayaki in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Alderich is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Veitayaki can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


It looks like Rupeni Veitayaki has been cut.
Alderich landing strikes from the mount and Veitayaki is in trouble!


Veitayaki is rocked!
Alderich unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Veitayaki wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Alderich celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Liber Alderich!
Liber Alderich decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
Rupeni Veitayaki spoke after the fight, saying ' Aloha'.
