Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brian Claremont (ranked 1002 p4p, 125 weight class) and Justin Midget (ranked 923 p4p, 112 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Claremont!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Midget!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Claremont misses the shot to the body.
Midget shoots and misses
and Claremont counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Claremont displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Midget tries to clinch there but Claremont circles away.
Claremont connects with a good right hand that stumbles Midget. Midget circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Claremont looks to land a left hand but Midget moved out of range nicely.
Claremont lands with a hook. Midget tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Midget is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Claremont knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Claremont on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Claremont tries to get out of the position.
Claremont tries to bench press Midget off him but Midget keeps the position.

Midget wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Claremont, who protects the arm well.

Midget is looking to take a break and control but Claremont is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Claremont tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Midget easily slips into full mount!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Claremont is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Midget looking to secure an arm triangle but Claremont defends it well.
Claremont wants to hold on but Midget pushes him away.

Claremont reaches up and holds on to Midget to control the position.
Claremont knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Midget on the ground.

Midget is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Claremont is surviving well by controlling Midget's body position as best he can.

Midget wants to finish this one by submission but Claremont is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Midget.

Midget looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Midget has control of Claremont's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Claremont regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Claremont is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Doherty's Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Claremont tries to hold on but Midget postures up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Claremont tries to lock up and control but Midget gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Justin Midget dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Midget uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Claremont.
Claremont throws a body shot but no joy.
Midget with the counter takedown but Claremont avoids it easily.
Claremont's jab looks to have found its range, popping Midget under the eye.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
A slow jab from Claremont misses its intended target.
And Midget tries to counter it with a takedown but Claremont pushes his down on his head and steps out.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Claremont lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Claremont scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Claremont slaps away a takedown attempt from Midget, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Claremont catches Midget with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Brian Claremont seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Good exchange - Claremont coming out on top.
Claremont is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Claremont connects with a body shot that sends Midget's belly button to the back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nice straight punches there by Claremont. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Claremont.
Midget goes for a double leg but Claremont avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Claremont continues to drive forward.
Brian Claremont has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Midget.

so Midget counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Claremont has control of Midget's left arm, preventing Midget from doing any damage.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Midget drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Midget as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Claremont screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Midget! Nice submission victory there!
