With a record of 6 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Chris Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Chad Campbell and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takada misses with a body shot.
Saguro Takada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Takada shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Takada showed some decent athleticism there.
Takada not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Griffin is looking to improve his position.
Takada trying to control the action but Griffin is working from the bottom.
Griffin slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Takada stands up over Griffin, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Takada works over Griffin with some ground and pound from guard.
Takada stopping the sweep attempt from Griffin.
Griffin is looking to sweep but instead, Takada has passed into half guard.
Takada prevents Griffin from improving his position.
Takada is keen to just control but Griffin is a slippery customer.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Takada takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Griffin is refusing to be controlled, as Takada sits in half guard.
Griffin is looking for a sweep. Takada is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Takada is keen to just control but Griffin is a slippery customer.
Takada missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Takada throwing shots but Griffin is blocking nicely.
Griffin is staying active underneath Takada, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Griffin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Takada.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Griffin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Takada is looking to clinch.
Good exchange - Griffin coming out on top.
Griffin throws a hook but Takada avoids it easily.
Takada misses with an uppercut.
Takada uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Griffin.
Takada tries to clinch there but Griffin circles away.
Takada throws a low kick but Griffin avoids it.
A telegraphed right hand from Griffin misses the target.

It looks like Chris Griffin has been cut.

Takada tries to clinch there but Griffin circles away.
Griffin misses with a wild combination.

Takada throws a combination that misses
and Griffin counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Takada moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Takada misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Griffin.
Takada throws a right and a left that both miss.
Takada is looking to score with low kicks.
Chris Griffin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A left lands for Griffin.
Griffin misses with a few strikes there.
Takada throws a sloppy head kick and Griffin moves out of range easily.
Takada tries to bum rush Griffin with a series of wild strikes but Griffin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Takada takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Chris Griffin's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


The fighters circling - Takada throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Takada moves forwards but Griffin connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Griffin scores with a decent looking hook.
Takada tries to clinch but Griffin moves out of range.
Takada takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Griffin staying out of range there.
Griffin is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Takada lands a nice looking body shot.
Takada tries for a takedown but Griffin circles away easily
and Griffin counters with a low kick, right behind Takada 's knee.
Takada swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Griffin makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Takada throws out a loose jab but Griffin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Griffin stalks Takada and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Takada's face. Takada staggers backwards, shaken.
Takada throws a right and a left that Griffin avoids nicely.
Griffin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Takada fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Griffin connects with a body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Takada closes the distance and clinches up with Griffin, looking for a takedown. Takada pushes Griffin against the cage but Griffin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Saguro Takada. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Griffin throws a combination. Takada tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Takada throws a left and a right that both miss
and Griffin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Takada misses with a looping left.
Takada is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Takada's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Griffin thuds a left hand into Takada's body.
Donk. Griffin catches Takada right on the button with a cross.
Takada misses with a body shot
and Griffin counters with a one-two to the body.


Takada is rocked!
Griffin grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Takada takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Griffin cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Chris Griffin!
