Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Menger (ranked 5636 p4p, 203 weight class) and Paul Beecher (ranked 3315 p4p, 149 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Menger might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Shiny. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Menger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Beecher!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Menger fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Beecher avoids it really well and circles away.

Menger bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Beecher takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
You can see the frustration on Beecher's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Menger misses with the ground and pound.

Menger tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Menger wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Beecher, who protects the arm well.

Menger goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Beecher has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Menger but great work by Beecher.
Beecher wants to lay and pray for a moment but Menger keeps working.
Menger can't do much from the bottom here.
Menger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Menger tries to buck Beecher off but Beecher is having none of it.
Menger is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Beecher off and has taken his back!
Menger throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Menger seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Menger lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Beecher covering up well under a barage of strikes.
Beecher has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Menger is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Even with his hooks in, Menger manages to miss with strikes from the back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Beecher is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Menger scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Beecher covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Menger lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Beecher.


Beecher is rocked!
Beecher is trying to remain composed but Menger is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
Beecher is still in real trouble! Can Menger finish him?

Beecher trying to control the action but Menger just sinks the hooks in.
Menger drops a big shot to the side of Beecher's head! Oh, Beecher is out! He's out cold! Menger jumps to his feet and celebrates with his corner. In his post fight interview he thanks God. Saying that without him, he wouldn't have the power to knock his opponent senseless. Amen.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Carl Menger!
Carl Menger opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
