Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcel Cooper (ranked 23540 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Wayne (ranked 5462 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyler Wayne has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcel Cooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tyler Wayne!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wayne throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cooper was covering up waiting for the punch and Wayne finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wayne content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Wayne decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Cooper really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Cooper fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Wayne moves into the clinch.
Cooper digs a right hand into Wayne's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Wayne's gas tank.
Cooper could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cooper won't allow Wayne to sweep him here.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wayne can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cooper takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cooper cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Wayne bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Cooper kicks Wayne off and gets to his feet.
Wayne throws a series of punches but Cooper moves out of range.
Cooper throws a front kick that sends Wayne stumbling back into the cage.
Cooper will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Wayne manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cooper on his heels. He'll look to pass Cooper's guard now, I'm sure.

A close round but Tyler Wayne will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Wayne connects with a high kick.
Cooper shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wayne sprawls well. Wayne wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cooper gets slowly back to his feet.
Tyler Wayne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wayne has managed to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cooper throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Wayne tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cooper is in Wayne's guard.
Wayne is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Wayne is breathing heavily.
Cooper with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Cooper wants to control from the top but Wayne keeps moving.
Wayne tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Cooper distracts Wayne with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Wayne had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cooper defends it easily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nice takedown defense from Wayne. No joy for Cooper on that attempt.
Cooper fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcel Cooper. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cooper darts in looking for a takedown but Wayne gets double underhooks and turns Cooper into the cage.

Wayne looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cooper with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Cooper gets back to full guard.
Wayne won't allow Cooper to get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Wayne tries to bum rush Cooper with a series of wild strikes but Cooper uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Wayne is trying to force a seperation but Cooper has the dominant position.

Wayne breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Wayne closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cooper quickly recovers to half guard.

Cooper manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Wayne keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Wayne has picked Cooper up - he's going for a ride! Wayne dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Wayne takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Cooper is looking to control Wayne's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cooper avoid being mounted?

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Wayne takes the fight into the clinch.
Cooper swings wildly with an uppercut but Wayne uses good head movement to avoid it.

Wayne has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Cooper is trying to keep an underhook but Wayne manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Cooper is trying to get back to full guard.

Wayne decides to stand and escape the position.
Cooper shoots in but Wayne avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Cooper closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wayne did well to prevent Cooper getting side control.
Wayne is looking for a sweep. Cooper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Wayne is not content to let Cooper control the position.
Wayne is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Wayne might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cooper haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Cooper is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Cooper thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wayne's head.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wayne tries to get to full guard but Cooper has control of the leg.
Wayne is trying to control but can't.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

I would just about give that final round to Tyler Wayne.
I've got Wayne winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
