Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Kurtis Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo Miranda!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Miranda throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Velasquez was covering up waiting for the punch and Miranda finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Velasquez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Miranda looking for a guillotine here but Velasquez defends easily.
Miranda is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Velasquez won't allow Miranda to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Miranda is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Velasquez wants to control from the top but Miranda keeps moving.
Velasquez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Miranda on the ground.
Velasquez throws a big elbow that misses.
Miranda pulls Velasquez in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Miranda's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Velasquez stops Miranda from standing up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Miranda clinches up with Velasquez and pushes him back against the cage.

Velasquez pulls Miranda into guard.
Miranda looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Miranda slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Miranda wants to stand but Velasquez is controlling his arm.
Miranda takes a little break here. Velasquez wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Velasquez tries to bench press Miranda off him but Miranda keeps the position.
Miranda tries to stand but Velasquez is controlling his head.
Miranda in side control, just content to control the action for now.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gustavo Miranda dominated that round.

Velasquez tries to clinch there but Miranda circles away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Miranda works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Velasquez wants to sweep here but Miranda controlling him for the moment.
Miranda looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Miranda stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Miranda drives through with a takedown into guard.

Velasquez has his feet on Miranda's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Miranda has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The fight stays on the outside here - Velasquez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Miranda looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Velasquez!

Miranda has hold of Velasquez's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Velasquez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Miranda cranks the arm and Velasquez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Velasquez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
