Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Antony Owen (ranked 6517 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abelino Correa (ranked 5378 p4p, 223 weight class). Abelino Correa will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antony Owen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Abelino Correa!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Correa connects with a high kick.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Correa enables Owen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Correa manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Owen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Correa looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Owen trying to control the position from guard on top but Correa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Correa can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Owen controls the pace.

Correa decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Correa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Owen is not content to let Correa control the position.

Correa decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Owen shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Owen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Correa to the ground. Owen is now in Correa's guard.

Correa lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Correa would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Owen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Correa defends it easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Correa wants to get up but he can't break Owen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Correa is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Correa feints and then cracks Owen's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Owen down.
Correa fails to land with a series of punches.

Correa gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Owen to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Correa wants to sweep here but Owen controlling him for the moment.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Owen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Abelino Correa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Correa shoots in and bounces Owen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
