Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Derek DeCarlo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shawn Daniels!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeCarlo ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
DeCarlo tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Daniels manages to circle out of the way.
DeCarlo tries to close the distance and clinch but Daniels swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

DeCarlo moves into the clinch.
Daniels is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Daniels prevents the takedown attempt.
DeCarlo is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Daniels gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Daniels gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Daniels pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. DeCarlo is keeping the position for now.
DeCarlo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
DeCarlo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Daniels is one step ahead there.

DeCarlo is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Daniels stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Daniels wants it to stay on the feet.

DeCarlo avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
DeCarlo bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

DeCarlo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Daniels is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
I wouldn't like to be where Daniels is right now.

DeCarlo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
DeCarlo tries to advance to mount but Daniels denies him.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Daniels can do anything to dispel that myth.

DeCarlo decides to stand back up. DeCarlo steps back and let's Daniels get back to his feet.

DeCarlo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Daniels sprawls well. Daniels wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. DeCarlo gets slowly back to his feet.
DeCarlo avoids a punch combination nicely.

DeCarlo gets in close and instigates a clinch.

DeCarlo decides to pull guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
DeCarlo wants to control but Daniels passes easily into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Daniels lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Daniels wants to pass the guard but DeCarlo is defending well.

Daniels postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for DeCarlo to stand up.

DeCarlo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
DeCarlo slips a straight right by Daniels.
DeCarlo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A big left from Daniels misses.
DeCarlo changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
We've been informed that Daniels has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Daniels has managed to clinch.
Daniels gets underhooks to prevent DeCarlo's takedown attempt.

DeCarlo drags the fight down to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Daniels stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Shawn Daniels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
DeCarlo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Daniels.
DeCarlo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Daniels is fending him off so far but DeCarlo persists. Nope, Daniels circles away and we're back to standing.
Daniels loads up on a big right hand but DeCarlo slips the punch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Shawn Daniels will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


No luck for DeCarlo with that takedown attempt.
Daniels throws a head kick that misses.
Daniels throws a right and a left that DeCarlo avoids nicely.
A nice combination there by DeCarlo.


It looks like Shawn Daniels has been cut.
Daniels throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around DeCarlo's waist but DeCarlo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Daniels off to one side.

DeCarlo shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
DeCarlo is trying to control. Daniels wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Daniels misses with an uppercut. DeCarlo saw that one coming.
Daniels throws a right and a left that both miss.
DeCarlo tries to counter by clinching up but Daniels breaks away and moves out of range.
Daniels defends well against a solid takedown attempt from DeCarlo.
Daniels throws a body punch but DeCarlo moves out of range.
DeCarlo shoots in for a double leg but Daniels sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Daniels tries to bum rush DeCarlo with a series of wild strikes but DeCarlo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

DeCarlo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Daniels manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Daniels is looking to control DeCarlo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Daniels avoid being mounted?

Daniels holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
DeCarlo slips a nice elbow through Daniels's hands, connecting with Daniels's forehead.
DeCarlo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Daniels keeps working.
Daniels trying to hold on to DeCarlo's head to control him but DeCarlo postures up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
DeCarlo seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
DeCarlo sitting and controlling from the half guard.
DeCarlo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Daniels keeps working.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Daniels throws an off balance right hand
and DeCarlo counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Daniels thows a left - swing and a miss!
DeCarlo seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Daniels throws a jab when DeCarlo was well out of range.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
No luck for DeCarlo with that takedown attempt.
DeCarlo sizes up Daniels with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Daniels fakes high and swings low for a body shot but DeCarlo manages to avoid it.

DeCarlo drops down looking for a counter takedown but Daniels sprawls and moves away.
Daniels is still on wobbly legs! Can DeCarlo finish him?
Daniels might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
DeCarlo Throws a clean left jab. DeCarlo Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Daniels's chin! Daniels crumbles to the ground and DeCarlo follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by DeCarlo!
