Thompson has chosen In the hall of the mountain king trap remix as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Troy Bentley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Thompson !
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thompson moves into the clinch.

Bentley jumps into guard, dragging Thompson to the mat.
Thompson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bentley's head.
Thompson tries to stand but Bentley is controlling from the bottom.
Thompson content to stall in guard here.
Thompson works over Bentley with some ground and pound from guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thompson stays in close to Bentley's body and controls the position.
Bentley working a defensive guard but Thompson manages to pass into side control anyway.

Bentley is looking for a sweep.

Thompson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Thompson closes the distance and clinches.
Bentley is trying to pull guard but Thompson has him pressed against the cage.
Bentley tries for a takedown. No joy.
Bentley jumps guard but Thompson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Troy Bentley. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bentley is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Bentley is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Thompson is keeping busy.
Bentley can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Bentley tries to score a body lock takedown but Thompson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Thompson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bentley manages to get himself to full guard.

Thompson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Bentley is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Thompson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bentley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Thompson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Thompson wants to stand and escape but instead Bentley has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Thompson pulls Bentley in close to his closed guard and prevents Bentley from doing any damage or advancing position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Thompson is continuing to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Bentley throws a head kick that misses

and Thompson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Thompson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bentley knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Bentley has hold of Thompson 's hands but Thompson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Thompson is pressing down on Bentley's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bentley is holding on for now.

Thompson is working for an americana but Bentley has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Thompson was thinking about the submission.
Thompson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Thompson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Thompson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bentley is proving hard to escape from.
Thompson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Thompson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Thompson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bentley napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Thompson moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Thompson wants to stand but Bentley has his arm trapped.
Thompson in side control lands a decent elbow.
A lull in the action here.
Thompson moves into full mount!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

William Thompson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bentley tries to lock up and control but Thompson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

BOOM! Thompson connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Bentley keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Thompson is in the full mount, landing strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Thompson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Thompson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Thompson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Thompson wants to pass to mount but Bentley is defending the position.
Bentley tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Thompson has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Thompson breaks from Bentley's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Thompson lands a big shot there that rocks Bentley but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Thompson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Bentley has worked his arm free - good work by Bentley!

Thompson tries to move to mount but Bentley blocks the move with his legs.

Thompson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bentley keeps working.
Bentley tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Thompson tries for a kimura but Bentley is defending well.
Bentley is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Thompson scores with a couple of short elbows.
Bentley tries to improve position but can't.
A lull in the action here.
Bentley wants to get back to his feet.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Thompson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
William Thompson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Thompson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
