PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alphonse Miller (ranked 5549 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elijah Aden (ranked 22175 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aden throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Miller was covering up waiting for the punch and Aden finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Miller is looking to stand back up but Aden counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Miller.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aden is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aden is looking to advance position but Miller won't allow it.
Miller might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Well, if Aden is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Aden wants to stand up but Miller is controlling the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Miller has hold of Aden's hands but Aden slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Miller wants to control but Aden is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Miller tries to close the distance and clinch up but Aden swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Aden closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Aden thows a huge punch but Miller dodges it nicely.

Aden wants to stand up but Miller is controlling the position.

Miller makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Miller.
Aden makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Aden slips nicely into half guard.
Miller could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Aden is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Miller doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Aden.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Miller closes the distance and clinches up with Aden, looking for a takedown. Miller pushes Aden against the cage but Aden circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Miller takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Miller slips a jab and a cross from Aden.

Aden fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Miller sprawls well initially but Aden persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Aden is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Aden is looking for a kimura but Miller is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Aden to get the leverage.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Aden is trying to control the action in half guard but Miller is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Miller wants to improve his position but Aden is controlling well.
Aden tries to pass to full mount but Miller defends it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Aden won't allow Miller to get back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Miller gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Aden to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Miller is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Miller tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Aden smiles and moves away.

Miller is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Miller controls Aden momentarily but Aden frees himself.

Aden is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miller looking for a sweep. Not yet Miller, not yet.
Aden stays in close to Miller's body and controls the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Aden throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Elijah Aden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Aden has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Aden is working for a rear naked choke. Miller is not defending it well and Aden has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Miller refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Miller's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
