Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sanjay Sandhu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter English (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sanjay Sandhu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter English!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sandhu doesn't manage to clinch there - English circles away.

English feints and as Sandhu raises his hands in defense, English changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
English trying to control but Sandhu is working from the bottom.
Sandhu wants to stand up but English is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
English sitting in guard here, content to control.
Sandhu tries to land a sweep but no joy.
English content to stall in guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sandhu is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Sandhu looking to hit a scissor sweep but English is one step ahead there.
English tries to free his leg and advance position but Sandhu is retaining full guard.
English cracks Sandhu with a solid left hand.
English trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Sandhu looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
English working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sandhu wants to sweep but no luck.
English slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
English trying to control the position from guard on top but Sandhu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
English's corner is telling him to maintain position.
English advances to half guard.
English controlling the action here.
I looks like English might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Sandhu looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Well, if English is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
English is thwarting Sandhu's attempts to control the position.
English stops Sandhu from getting back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
English looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Despite being in the dominant position, Peter English just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

English shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Sandhu fails with the takedown

and English decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sandhu's guard.
Sandhu controls English momentarily but English frees himself.
Sandhu is adopting a defensive guard.

Sandhu can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as English controls the pace.
Let's hope that English has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

English wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sandhu keeps working.
Sandhu has his hands clasped together around English's back. He's all about the action.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sandhu wants to improve his position but English is controlling well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
English controlling the action here.
English is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
English trying to control but Sandhu is working from the bottom.
English seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

English trying to control the position from guard on top but Sandhu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
You can see the frustration on Sandhu's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sandhu is looking to regain half guard here but English keeps moving and retains side control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter English showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


English throws a right and a left that both miss.
English shoots in but no luck this time.
English shoots in but Sandhu avoids the takedown attempt easily.

English gets a takedown into half guard.
Sandhu gets full guard.

English takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

English wants to stand and escape but instead Sandhu has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

English controlling the position.
English is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
English keeping moving, preventing Sandhu from controlling successfully.
Peter English has got the better of the ground game so far.
English looking for a sweep. Not yet English, not yet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Sandhu fails to land the takedown.
English dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Sanjay Sandhu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sandhu is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and English decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sandhu's guard.

English gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

English feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Sandhu working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. English doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. English manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Peter English comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well English has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
