Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Doctor Back Breaker (ranked 8183 p4p, 565 weight class) and John Will (ranked 7758 p4p, 554 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Doctor Back Breaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Will!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Back Breaker displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Will.
Back Breaker tries a low kick but Will avoids it.

Back Breaker shoots in and gets a takedown into Will's guard.
Will utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Will tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Back Breaker postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Will is trying to keep Back Breaker in close.
Back Breaker trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Will looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Will keeping moving, preventing Back Breaker from controlling successfully.
Back Breaker postures up in Will's guard and throws a big left but Will blocks it.
Back Breaker with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Will wants to sweep but no luck.
Back Breaker is looking to work some ground and pound but Will has wrist control.

Will controls Back Breaker momentarily but Back Breaker frees himself.
Back Breaker could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Will might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Back Breaker haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Will is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Back Breaker enables Will to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Back Breaker manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Back Breaker is trying to keep Will in close.

Back Breaker has his foot on Will's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Will works his way back into a safe position though.
Will sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Back Breaker's guard.
Back Breaker is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Will scores with a couple of nice shots.
Back Breaker is refusing to be controlled, as Will sits in half guard.

Will is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Back Breaker sees it coming and defends easily.

Will is trying to control the action in half guard but Back Breaker is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Will seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Back Breaker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Will drops an elbow to the side of Back Breaker's head.

A close second round but John Will will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Will is pushing down on Back Breaker's leg trying to pass to half guard. Back Breaker is fighting to maintain full guard but Will has managed to sneak the leg through.
Will not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Back Breaker blocking the ground and pound attempt from Will.
Will is trying to control the action in half guard but Back Breaker is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Doctor Back Breaker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Will postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Back Breaker is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Will trying to control but Back Breaker is having none of it.
Back Breaker can't escape the position.

Will is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Back Breaker is surviving well by controlling Will's body position as best he can.

Will swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Back Breaker is now in Will's guard. A big mistake from Will there, giving up the dominant position!
Back Breaker prevents Will from getting back to his feet.

John Will comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Will has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
