Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Knock Down (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Victory. Knock Down has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Knock Down!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryan Miller!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Valeri Chadov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Down tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Down forces Miller back against the cage and clinches.
Miller has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Down is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Miller wants a takedown.

Down manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Miller slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Down doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Miller must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Down preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Down avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Down not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Down is on top in guard.
Miller wants to stand but Down is controlling the position.

Miller is looking to stand back up but Down counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Miller.
Down tries to pass the half guard into mount. Miller knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Down is looking to take a break and control but Miller is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Down goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Miller has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Down but great work by Miller.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Miller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Down keeps working.
Miller lands some shots froms side control.
You can see the frustration on Down's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Down tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Miller wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Miller tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Miller has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Miller looks gassed!
Down gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Down preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like Miller is going to stand back up.
Miller is thwarting Down's attempts to control the position.
Miller is keen to just control but Down is a slippery customer.
Down taking some punishment here, with Miller in his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Down is looking for a sweep. Miller is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Miller is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Miller seems to be working for a kimura but Down defends the submission attempt.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Down moves into the clinch.
Down tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Miller just stands there and leans against the cage.

Down looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Knock Down. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Miller has picked Down up - he's going for a ride! Miller dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Miller connects with a nice short shot to Down's temple.
Miller wants to control but Down is keeping him busy.
Down trying to control from the bottom.
Miller really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Down. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Miller tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Knock Down will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Down drives through with a takedown into guard.
Down stopping the sweep attempt from Miller.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Miller can do anything to dispel that myth.

Down is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Down postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Down is pushing down on Miller's leg trying to pass to half guard. Miller is fighting to maintain full guard but Down has managed to sneak the leg through.

Down seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Miller is looking to get back to full guard here but Down has managed to pass to side control instead.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Down working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Miller tries to reverse the position but Down maintains control.

Down is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Miller has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Down with a couple of short strikes.
Miller taking shots to the head.
Down blocks Miller's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Down looking to control but Miller is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Miller swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Miller tries to lock up and control but Down gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Miller reaches up to try and control the position but Down seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Miller rolls and tries to escape and now Down has his back!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Down trying to control momentarily.

Down is looking to control Miller but Miller is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Miller is trying to get back to his feet but Down has full control of the position and if anything, Miller has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Miller wants to control his opponent's hands but Down gets his hands free.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Miller is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Knock Down dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Down clinches up with Miller and pushes him back against the cage.
Down is pressed up against the cage. Miller has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Down down to the mat. Down avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Down fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Miller moves into the clinch.
Miller is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Down pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Miller tries to score a body lock takedown but Down shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Knock Down has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Miller.
Down goes for a takedown in the clinch but Miller prevents it.

and Down counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Down.

Miller wants the takedown. Down is fighting it off but Miller persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Down's guard against the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Down manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Miller manages to get himself to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Down decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Miller, up you get!
Down throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Miller throws a right and a left that Down avoids nicely.
Miller stalks Down and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Down's face. Down staggers backwards, shaken.
Miller shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Down counters with a takedown into side control.
Miller looking for a sweep but Down has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Miller sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Miller is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Miller throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Down quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Down but it's paid off an Miller is forced to tap! Nice work by Down.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Knock Down!
