Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pearl Whites (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whites has chosen Enter Sandman as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pearl Whites!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whites tries to clinch but Mason is having none of it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Whites looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mason misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Whites.
Pearl Whites seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Whites tries for a takedown but Mason sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mason swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mason misses with a looping left.
Mason throws a right hand that Whites ducks under and follows up with a left that Whites also avoids with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mason stuffs the takedown attempt from Whites. Whites gets slowly back to his feet.

Whites is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Mason is keeping busy.

Whites is trying to break the clinch but Mason has him pressed against the cage.

Whites tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Mason avoids a wild elbow strike from Whites.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Mason as Whites tries to tie him up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Whites is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.
Mason blocks an elbow strike.
Whites misses with a punch on the inside.
Whites doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Whites misses with a hook to the ribs.
Mason changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Whites fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Mason gets caught flat footed, as Whites shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Whites throws a big right hand that misses.

Whites stands up from Mason's guard - Whites perhaps looking for a knockout.

Mason moves into range and clinches up with Whites.

Whites tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mason just stands there and leans against the cage.
Mark Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pearl Whites.
Whites can't find room to land a body shot as Mason controls the action.
Mason blocking some punches.

Mason with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Pearl Whites has been cut.
Whites jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mason walks away with a smile on his face. Whites gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Mason blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Mason with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Whites wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mason has him pressed against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Mason.
Whites misses with a shot to the kidneys.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Whites doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Whites fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Mason stalls.
Mason lands an elbow just above Whites 's eye.
Whites tries to throw a body punch but Mason avoids it by throwing Whites back against the cage.
Mason blocking some punches.
Whites letting Mason take a breather here.

Mason turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Mason manages to end up in side control.
Whites tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Mason presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Whites can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mason misses with a looping left.

Whites postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Whites is trying to control the position but Mason postures up.

Whites had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mason is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Whites Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mason's back instead.
Mason knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Whites on the ground.
Whites doesn't have the hooks in and Mason manages to turn into his guard.
Whites is trying to control the position from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pearl Whites showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Mason scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Whites is trying to improve his position.
Mason takes advantage of some sloppy striking from Whites to pass into mount.
Mason tries to control but Whites wriggling away.
Mason takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mason can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Whites is looking to escape.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Whites takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mason content just to control the position here.
Whites really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Whites is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mason scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Whites?
Whites keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Mason decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Mason looks to score with a jab to the body but Whites is just out of range.

I think Mason has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
