The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grossweiner drops his hands momentarily and Mekinist takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
A big left from Mekinist misses.
Mekinist slips a jab from Grossweiner.
Grossweiner backing away here, and Mekinist unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

and Mekinist counters with a body kick that stops Grossweiner in his tracks momentarily.
Grossweiner scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mekinist doesn't seem bothered though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A looping hook to the body misses from Grossweiner. Mekinist does a little dance to reset his feet.
Grossweiner shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Mekinist eats them both and turns towards Grossweiner to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Grossweiner with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Mekinist to score with a decent uppercut.
Grossweiner throws a solid leg kick but Mekinist takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Grossweiner.

Grossweiner manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mekinist on his heels. He'll look to pass Mekinist's guard now, I'm sure.

Grossweiner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
