Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nikita Volkov (ranked 5414 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Clark Jr (ranked 5653 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nikita Volkov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matthew Clark Jr!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clark Jr misses with a left hand
and Volkov counters with a nice body shot.
Volkov scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Volkov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Volkov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Clark Jr to the mat! Clark Jr manages to get full guard.
Volkov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Volkov looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Clark Jr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Volkov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clark Jr wants to sweep but no luck.
Clark Jr bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Volkov's guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Volkov holds on and takes a little breather.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Clark Jr wants to control from the top but Volkov keeps moving.
Clark Jr is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clark Jr trying to control but Volkov is working from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Clark Jr might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Volkov haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Volkov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Clark Jr works his way to full guard. Good work.
Volkov preventing the sweep.
Volkov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Clark Jr on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Clark Jr is still trying to improve position.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Volkov controls from within his opponent's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Clark Jr has a takedown stuffed.
Volkov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Volkov lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Clark Jr ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Volkov moves away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Volkov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Clark Jr tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Volkov is in Clark Jr's guard.

Clark Jr pushes Volkov off and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nikita Volkov will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Volkov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Volkov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Clark Jr did well to prevent Volkov getting side control.

Clark Jr is defending against the submission attempts here by Volkov.
Volkov content to control rather than advance.
Clark Jr wants to control but Volkov is keeping busy.

Clark Jr gets back to full guard.

Volkov throws a sloppy strike and Clark Jr has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Volkov is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Clark Jr!

Matthew Clark Jr decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
