Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Quelly (ranked 5473 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Homicide (ranked 5298 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Larry Homicide!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Homicide circles away from the clinch attempt.
Homicide tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Quelly manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Quelly wants to clinch.

Quelly drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Homicide looking to hit a scissor sweep but Quelly is one step ahead there.
Homicide looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Homicide tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Homicide looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Quelly puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Quelly works his foot free and advances to mount.

Peter Quelly overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Homicide is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Homicide wants to advance to full mount but Quelly doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Quelly is looking to counter the offense by Homicide and move into the clinch.

Quelly is thwarting Homicide's attempts to control the position.
Homicide has a hand on Quelly's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Quelly takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Homicide can do anything to dispel that myth.

Homicide throws a strike but Quelly rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Homicide will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Quelly wants to get up but he can't break Homicide's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Quelly makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Homicide takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Quelly is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Homicide presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Homicide tries to roll but Quelly sticks to his back.

Quelly has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Homicide has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Quelly has the hooks in. Homicide is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Homicide is still trying to improve position.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Quelly has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
