Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Morgan Hunter (ranked 24911 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shingoke Shoryu (ranked 4576 p4p, 0 weight class). Shoryu is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Soothsayer. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter moves into the clinch successfully.
Shoryu avoiding damage as Hunter throws knees to the body.
Hunter fails to pull guard.
Hunter successfully pulls guard.
Hunter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Shoryu postures up in Hunter's guard and throws a big left but Hunter blocks it.

Shoryu wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Hunter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shoryu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shoryu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hunter fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Hunter tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Shoryu just stands there and leans against the cage.
Hunter has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Shoryu avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Hunter tries to bum rush Shoryu with a series of wild strikes but Shoryu uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Shoryu fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hunter avoids it really well and circles away.

It looked like Hunter was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Shoryu slips a jab and a cross from Hunter.

Shoryu tries to pull guard but Hunter forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shoryu tries to free his leg and advance position but Hunter is retaining full guard.

Horrible takedown attempt by Shoryu or perhaps it was just good defense by Hunter, which made it look bad.

Hunter postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shoryu is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hunter, into his guard.

Shoryu wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.
Shoryu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hunter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shoryu keeps trying to improve his position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hunter working a defensive guard but Shoryu passes into half guard.
Hunter is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Shoryu's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Shoryu's back!
Hunter has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Hunter is looking for the choke from the back position but Shoryu is controlling his hands well.

Hunter wants to control but Shoryu manages to buck him off and is now in Hunter's guard! Nice work there by Shoryu!

Hunter has gone for a leg lock! Shoryu slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hunter's guard.
Shoryu wants to stand but Hunter is controlling his posture from full guard.

Shingoke Shoryu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Morgan Hunter is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Shoryu postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Morgan Hunter.
Well Hunter has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
