Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Austin Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John De Hahler!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Hahler tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
De Hahler just misses with a punch to the body.
A jab from De Hahler misses.
De Hahler misses with a straight right.
De Hahler misses with a looping left.
A clash of legs there as De Hahler blocks the low kick.
Smith throws an uppercut from half a mile away. De Hahler sees it coming and avoids it easily.
De Hahler throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Smith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. De Hahler was covering up waiting for the punch and Smith finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but De Hahler is retaining full guard.
Smith definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but De Hahler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Smith postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! De Hahler is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Smith, into his guard.

Smith preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
De Hahler wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
De Hahler postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
De Hahler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Smith not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
De Hahler in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Smith working a defensive guard here.

Smith has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. De Hahler doesn't defend quickly enough and Smith has managed to lock this one up! Can De Hahler escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Smith on a fantastic submission victory.
