Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edwin Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Diaz checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Diaz closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Villarreal's guard.
Diaz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Villarreal really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Diaz controls from within his opponent's guard.

Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Villarreal is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Villarreal knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground.

Diaz makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Diaz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Villarreal is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Diaz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Villarreal is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Villarreal is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Villarreal is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Diaz has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Villarreal is looking to defend but Diaz has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Villarreal! Diaz pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Villarreal taps out and this one is all over!
