PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Vito Roy (ranked 6952 p4p, 0 weight class) and Farah Khan (ranked 5426 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vito Roy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Farah Khan!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Khan instigates a clinch.
Roy wants a takedown.

Khan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Roy's waist but Roy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Khan off to one side.
Roy throws a right hand that Khan ducks under and follows up with a left that Khan also avoids with ease.
Farah Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Khan rushes Roy and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Khan has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Roy after a bit of a struggle.

Roy jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Khan walks away with a smile on his face. Roy gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Roy lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Khan at a distance.
Roy stuffs the takedown attempt from Khan. Khan gets slowly back to his feet.
Vito Roy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Farah Khan.
Khan shoots in for a takedown but Roy shows good takedown defense.

Khan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Khan landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Roy tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Khan just stands there and leans against the cage.
Khan throws an elbow that misses.
Khan is trying to maintain a safe position but Roy gets an underhook and turns Khan into the cage.

Khan breaks the clinch.
Khan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Khan can't break the clinch.

Roy manages to pull guard.
Roy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Khan tries to stand but Roy is controlling from the bottom.
Roy wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Roy controls Khan momentarily but Khan frees himself.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Khan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Roy, pushing him back against the cage.
Khan wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Khan scores with a nice hook to the head.
Khan unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Khan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Roy pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Khan prevents a takedown attempt there.

Roy throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Nice takedown defense from Roy. No joy for Khan on that attempt.
Vito Roy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Farah Khan.
Khan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Roy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Khan won't be happy with that.
Roy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Roy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Roy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Khan can't do much from the bottom here.
Khan is working to avoid the ground and pound but Roy connects with a decent elbow.

Roy wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Khan, who protects the arm well.

Roy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Khan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Roy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Roy is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Khan is just riding it out for now. Roy eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Khan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Roy is working away from the top position though.

Farah Khan seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Roy blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Khan tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Roy tries to pull guard but Khan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Khan jumps guard but Roy stands there with Khan around his waist. Khan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
