Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus J Matthews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matthews has chosen "Here Comes The Pain" by Jim Johnston as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Matthews on the side of the head.

Overeem has managed to clinch.

Matthews turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Overeem pushes Matthews away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Matthews gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Matthews is looking to take a break and control but Overeem is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Overeem is pushing Matthews's head away, looking to escape. Matthews manages to hold on to the position though.

Overeem closes the distance and pushes Matthews back into the cage.

Matthews shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Overeem but Overeem pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Matthews gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Matthews chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Overeem can pounce on him.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Matthews crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Overeem - the referee stops the clock and Matthews gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Overeem. Matthews manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Overeem lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Overeem lands a slapping body shot.
Overeem drops Matthews with a right and a left! Overeem comes rushing in but Matthews regains his composure and manages to keep Overeem in guard.

It looks like Marcus J Matthews has been cut.
Overeem has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Matthews is proving hard to escape from.

Overeem stands up from Matthews's guard - Overeem perhaps looking for a knockout.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Matthews changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Overeem fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Overeem lands a nice leg kick that just misses Matthews's sensitive parts.
Overeem throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Matthews tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Overeem swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Matthews.
Matthews has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Overeem has closed the distance and engaged Matthews in a clinch.

Overeem connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

A lazy left from Overeem finds it's target.

Whack! Overeem lands a heavy head kick that drops Matthews. The ref tackles Overeem to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Matthews was done.
