Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Luke Trendall!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trendall misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Trendall throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sanders.

Sanders shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Trendall is trying to defend but Sanders finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Trendall manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Sanders keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Sanders really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sanders successfully pulls guard.
Trendall wants to get up but he can't break Sanders's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Trendall stands up from Sanders's guard - Trendall perhaps looking for a knockout.

Trendall shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sanders wants to control but Trendall is keeping busy.

Sanders is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Trendall's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Trendall's back!

Sanders controlling from the back.

Sanders slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Sanders seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Trendall for as long as he can get away with.
Sanders will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sanders lands punches and elbows.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Sanders's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Trendall covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Trendall is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The referee is taking a good look at Trendall as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Sanders!

Sanders pushes Trendall up against the cage in a clinch.
Sanders is trying to drag Trendall to the mat but Trendall just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Sanders digs a right hand underneath Trendall's ribcage. Trendall let out a lung full of air as it connected.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Trendall tries to stand but Sanders is controlling from the bottom.
Trendall wants to stand and escape but instead Sanders has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Sanders stands and steps away. Trendall gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sanders. Trendall does a little dance to reset his feet.
Trendall throws a leg kick but Sanders moved away.

Trendall closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sanders quickly recovers to half guard.

Sanders has one foot on Trendall's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Sanders throws a series of punches but Trendall moves out of range.

Trendall closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sanders's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Trendall wants to stand but Sanders has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Sanders throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Trendall gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Trendall lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sanders circles away quickly and effectively.

Sanders gets caught napping as Trendall dives in and scores a takedown. Sanders manages to retain guard.

Trendall stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Trendall is breathing heavily.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Trendall.
Luke Trendall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanders looks to land a combination but Trendall avoids it well.

Trendall closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sanders quickly recovers to half guard.

Sanders manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Trendall keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Sanders jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Trendall walks away with a smile on his face. Sanders gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Trendall throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sanders was covering up waiting for the punch and Trendall finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Sanders manages to escape and get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Trendall misses with a wild body shot.
Sanders half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Trendall throws a body shot but no joy.

Trendall wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Trendall misses with a lunging right hand

and Sanders counters with a nice double leg into side control. Trendall won't be happy with that.
Trendall tries to buck Sanders off but Sanders is having none of it.

Sanders decides to stand up, so the ref orders Trendall to his feet.
Eliseo Sanders is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sanders tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Trendall manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A jab lands there for Sanders.
Trendall misses with a wild combination.
Sanders drops down looking for a counter takedown but Trendall sprawls and moves away.
Trendall stuffs the takedown attempt from Sanders. Sanders gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Trendall scores with the left hand. Sanders knows he should have avoided that one.

Sanders is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Trendall to keep the fight standing.
Trendall is looking to break free of the clinch but Sanders has double underhooks.
Trendall gets underhooks to prevent Sanders's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eliseo Sanders. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sanders tightens his grip and picks Trendall up, before dumping him to the ground. Trendall manages to land in guard.
Trendall wants to sweep but no luck.
Sanders not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Sanders postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Trendall can do anything to dispel that myth.
Trendall is trying to control the position but Sanders postures up.

Sanders throws a looping overhand right but Trendall ducks down to avoid it.
Sanders doesn't manage to clinch there - Trendall circles away.

Sanders kicks off Trendall and gets to his feet.
Sanders is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Trendall can do to turn this around?

Sanders escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Trendall gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Trendall must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sanders, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
