The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Toine drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Toine is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Elliott is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Elliott is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Toine works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Toine is controlling the pace.

and Toine counters with a shoot takedown. Elliott fights it but they end up in guard.

and Toine counters with a two punch combo.
Elliott tries to close the distance and clinch up but Toine swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Toine swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

and Toine holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Toine tightens his grip and picks Elliott up, before dumping him to the ground. Elliott manages to land in guard.

Toine decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Elliott, up you get!
Toine blocks a head kick by Elliott.
Elliott tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Toine paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Toine changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Elliott closes this distance looking for a takedown but Toine circles away.
Elliott is breathing heavily.

Elliott is looking to get back to his feet here but Toine is keeping cool and he's managed to take Elliott's back.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Toine has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Elliott is defending well but eventually Toine manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Elliott has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
