Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Wallace (ranked 5384 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Johnson (ranked 7749 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Atkins and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson darts in looking for a takedown but Wallace gets double underhooks and turns Johnson into the cage.

Johnson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Wallace on his heels. He'll look to pass Wallace's guard now, I'm sure.

Wallace uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown. Wallace tries to sprawl out of it but Johnson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wallace manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Johnson misses with a looping left.

Wallace clinches up with Johnson and pushes him back against the cage.
Johnson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Wallace is defending well.
Tommy Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Johnson.
A head punch on the inside from Wallace fails to land.
Wallace swings wildly with an uppercut but Johnson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Johnson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Wallace fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but Wallace sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Wallace has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Johnson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wallace is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Wallace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
The fighters circle momentarily. Johnson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.


It looks like Tommy Wallace has been cut.
Wallace shoots in but Johnson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Johnson has Wallace pressed against the cage, preventing Wallace from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Wallace is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Maybe Wallace would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.
Johnson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Johnson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Wallace fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Johnson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Wallace tries to counter by clinching up but Johnson breaks away and moves out of range.

Johnson scores with a hook to the body.
A frustrated look appears on Wallace's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Johnson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Wallace regains guard immediately.

Wallace pushes Johnson off and scrambles back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Johnson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wallace defends well and Johnson ends up having to push Wallace into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Wallace throws a good cross that connects.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Wallace's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Horrible takedown attempt by Wallace or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson, which made it look bad.
A little jabbing left from Johnson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Joe Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Johnson shoots in and bounces Wallace off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Wallace pushes Johnson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wallace shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl out of it but Wallace keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Johnson unleashes a big counter combination but Wallace bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Wallace. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wallace but Wallace pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wallace swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A left and a right from Johnson both land. Nice combination.

Wallace is rocked!

Johnson closes the distance looking for a takedown. Wallace stuffs it but Johnson still has hold of him. Johnson picks Wallace up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Johnson slams Wallace to the floor and that's really hurt Wallace - he doesn't know where he is! Johnson throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Johnson!
An out of breath Joe Johnson thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
