The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Silva tries for a takedown but Shinzaki sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Shinzaki drops Silva with a right and a left! Shinzaki comes rushing in but Silva regains his composure and manages to keep Shinzaki in guard.

Silva is rocked!

It looks like Jeronimo Silva has been cut.

Shinzaki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Silva is still in real trouble! Can Shinzaki finish him?

Shinzaki looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Shinzaki is taking a breather. Silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Shinzaki seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Silva tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Shinzaki presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Shinzaki wants to control the pace but Silva is squirming around nicely.
BOOM! Shinzaki connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Shinzaki throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Silva on the side of the head.

Shinzaki seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Silva is in trouble now - Shinzaki has advanced to mount!
Silva tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva avoids a series of strikes thrown by Shinzaki.
Silva looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Shinzaki has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Silva.
Silva is trying to break free.
Shinzaki struggling to keep hold of the position.
Silva manages to reverse the position and now he's in Shinzaki's guard. Nice work there by Silva.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
