PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brady Matthews (ranked 5366 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pantera Corulas (ranked 7313 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brady Matthews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pantera Corulas!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corulas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Matthews is fending him off so far but Corulas persists. Nope, Matthews circles away and we're back to standing.

Matthews closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Corulas to the mat! Corulas manages to get full guard.
Matthews stands up over Corulas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Corulas throws his legs up looking for a submission but Matthews uses it to pass to side control.
Matthews could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Corulas tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Matthews easily slips into full mount!
Corulas tries to buck Matthews off but he can't manage it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Matthews has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Corulas is desperately trying to improve his position but Matthews has a good base and remains in mount.

Matthews tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Corulas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Matthews. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Matthews seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Corulas for as long as he can get away with.

Matthews takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Corulas is bucking up trying to escape but Matthews cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee warns Corulas that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Matthews chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Corulas can pounce on him.

Corulas gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Matthews jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Corulas walks away with a smile on his face. Matthews gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Matthews had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Corulas defends it easily.
Corulas is fighting to break Matthews's control of his arms but Matthews is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Matthews has his feet on Corulas's thighs here. He's pushed Corulas off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Corulas screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
