The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howard shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Romero is trying to defend but Howard finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Howard throwing shots but Romero is blocking nicely.
Howard looks to land a strike but Romero avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Howard throws an elbow that misses. Romero uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Howard's guard. Nice move by Romero!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Howard can do anything to dispel that myth.
Howard wants to get back to his feet but Romero passes into half guard.
Romero seems to be working for a kimura but Howard defends the submission attempt.
Howard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Romero. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Romero thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Howard's head.
Howard wants to get back to his feet.
Howard makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Howard looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Howard scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Howard missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Howard lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Romero! More strikes land and this one is all over! Howard jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
