Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jules Gignac (ranked 3163 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Bateman (ranked 4328 p4p, 0 weight class). Bateman has chosen Huey Lewis and The News - Hip To Be Square as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bateman moves into the clinch successfully.

Gignac gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
It looks like Patrick Bateman has been cut.

Gignac is looking to stand up but Bateman isn't so interested in that idea.

Gignac closes the distance and clinches.
Bateman jumps guard but Gignac stands there with Bateman around his waist. Bateman gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Bateman jumps guard and drags Gignac to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Gignac would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Bateman pulls Gignac in close to prevent any damage.

Gignac tries to stand but Bateman is controlling from the bottom.
Bateman doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Gignac wants to stand and escape but instead Bateman has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Bateman passes Gignac's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Gignac is looking to escape.
Bateman content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Bateman gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Gignac tries to keep at a distance but Bateman has taken the fight into the clinch.

Jules Gignac has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Bateman.

Gignac moves in looking to clinch but Bateman pushes him off.
Bateman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gignac manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bateman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bateman with a flurry of punches that miss.
Bateman content to stall in guard here.
Let's hope that Bateman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bateman's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Gignac tries to clinch but Bateman moves out of range.

and Bateman counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Bateman shoots in looking for a takedown. Gignac tries to sprawl out of it but Bateman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gignac manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gignac gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bateman to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Bateman gets to his feet - Gignac follows without any prompting.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gignac doesn't manage to clinch there - Bateman circles away.
Gignac moves in looking to clinch but Bateman pushes him off.
Gignac darts in and clinches Bateman up against the cage.

Bateman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Patrick Bateman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bateman throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Gignac tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bateman is in Gignac's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bateman's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Bateman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gignac wants to get back to his feet but Bateman is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Bateman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Bateman throws a big right hand that misses.

Bateman stands up and waves to Gignac to follow him.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Bateman.
Bateman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gignac tries to clinch but Bateman moves out of range.

and Bateman counters with a crisp one two that drops Gignac! Bateman thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Gignac to his feet! Gignac is in big trouble!

and Bateman counters with a monster hook and another for good measure! Gignac falls to the ground, out cold! Stick some heavy metal music over the top of that clip and it's one for the highlight makers!
