And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Matthew !
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Matthew looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Alford being controlled here, momentarily.

Matthew is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Alford is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Alford has escaped and now he's on top!

Matthew looking to hit a scissor sweep but Alford is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alford gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Alford tries to keep at a distance but Matthew has taken the fight into the clinch.

Alford pulls guard.

Matthew trying to control the position from guard on top but Alford is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Alford throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Alford wants to get back to his feet but Matthew is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Matthew wants to control from the top but Alford keeps moving.
Matthew won't allow Alford to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Matthew shoots in looking for a takedown. Alford tries to sprawl out of it but Matthew keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alford manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Alford feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Alford wants to clinch.

Matthew doesn't manage to clinch there - Alford circles away.
Alford avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Matthew with a lazy takedown attempt
and Alford counters with a nice uppercut.
Matthew darts in looking for a takedown but Alford gets double underhooks and turns Matthew into the cage.
Warren Alford has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Matthew .
Alford is trying hard to land a takedown here. Matthew sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Matthew ! But no joy.

Alford shoots for a double leg takedown but Matthew sprawls well. He's pushed Alford's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
As Alford backs off Matthew throws a huge counter combo but Alford manages to avoid it all.

and Alford counters with a stiff right hand.
Matthew stuffs the takedown.
Mark Matthew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alford tries to score a power double leg takedown but Matthew sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alford somewhat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Alford avoids the head kick by Matthew .
Alford appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Matthew shoots in for a takedown but Alford shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Warren Alford will probably get the nod.

Matthew fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Alford sprawls well initially but Matthew persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Alford instigates a clinch.

Alford breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Alford takes a kick to the side of the head.


It looks like Warren Alford has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Alford tries to score a power double leg takedown but Matthew sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alford somewhat.

Matthew rushes Alford and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Alford might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Alford is trying to pull guard but Matthew turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Alford gets control of Matthew 's arms and successfully pulls guard. Alford will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Matthew distracts Alford with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Matthew stalling away here and it's allowed Alford to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Warren Alford will probably get the nod.

Matthew looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Alford is fending him off so far but Matthew persists. Nope, Alford circles away and we're back to standing.

Matthew throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Alford was covering up waiting for the punch and Matthew finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Matthew takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alford pushes Matthew off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Mark Matthew is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Alford gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Matthew prevents a takedown attempt there.
Alford is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Matthew to keep the fight standing.

Alford gets caught napping as Matthew dives in and scores a takedown. Alford manages to retain guard.
Matthew working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Alford controls Matthew momentarily but Matthew frees himself.

Alford is looking for a triangle but Matthew pushes his legs off easily.
Matthew sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Alford's guard.

Matthew is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Matthew seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alford does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mark Matthew comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Alford has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
