Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Will Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blade Runner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blade Runner is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Will Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Blade Runner!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Runner fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jackson tries a head kick but it misses.

Runner is trying to control Jackson's posture but Jackson avoids it.
A lull in the action here as Jackson stalls from top position.
Runner is looking for a sweep.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Jackson advances nicely into full mount.
Runner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jackson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Runner manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Runner wants to control but Jackson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jackson is taking a breather. Runner says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Jackson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Jackson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Runner has escaped the position, nice work there.
Jackson is breathing heavily.
Runner wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jackson lands an elbow.
Jackson looks up at the clock and then as Runner takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jackson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Jackson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Runner has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jackson but great work by Runner.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Runner shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Jackson counters with a shoot takedown. Runner fights it but they end up in guard.

Runner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jackson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Jackson stands up and waves to Runner to follow him.
Runner fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Jackson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Runner!
Will Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Blade Runner.

Will Jackson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee warns Runner that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Jackson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Runner can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Runner is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Runner is wriggling around trying to escape.

Runner is looking to improve his position but Jackson isn't that keen on the idea.

Runner is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jackson has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Runner tries to improve position but can't.
You can see the frustration on Runner's face as Jackson controls the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Runner tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Jackson presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

The referee stands the fighters back up. Will Jackson just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Jackson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Jackson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Runner is bucking up trying to escape but Jackson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Runner is desperately trying to improve his position but Jackson has a good base and remains in mount.

Jackson is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Jackson!
