Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rayford Acevedo (ranked 5301 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Franklin (ranked 5346 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rayford Acevedo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jesse Franklin!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Franklin is defended easily by Acevedo.

Acevedo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Acevedo lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Acevedo working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Franklin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Acevedo controls the pace.
Franklin looking for a sweep. Not yet Franklin, not yet.
Acevedo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Acevedo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Franklin wriggles free and stands up.
Franklin shoots for a takedown but Acevedo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Acevedo drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Franklin is controlling Acevedo's posture.
Franklin looking for a sweep. Not yet Franklin, not yet.
Acevedo throws a strike but Franklin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Franklin passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Acevedo is not content to let Franklin control the position.
Acevedo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Acevedo looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Franklin is looking to take a break and control but Acevedo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Franklin controlling the action here.
Acevedo wants to control but Franklin is keeping busy.
Acevedo keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Franklin landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Franklin in particular looking to stall.

Acevedo looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Acevedo is trying to maintain the position but Franklin is very close to passing his half guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Franklin wants to take a breather but Acevedo is having none of it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jesse Franklin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Acevedo looking to control but Franklin passes into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Acevedo is pressing down on Franklin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Franklin is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Acevedo looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Franklin is defending well. Acevedo quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Franklin has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Acevedo celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
