PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Swagger (ranked 3969 p4p, 210 weight class) and Leonardo Yoshi (ranked 3405 p4p, 194 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnny Swagger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leonardo Yoshi!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swagger lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Yoshi tries to clinch but Swagger moves away
and Swagger counters with a stiff right hand.
A punch lands to the side of Yoshi 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Yoshi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Yoshi wants to clinch but Swagger slips to the side
and Swagger counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Yoshi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Swagger's waist but Swagger gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Yoshi off to one side.
Swagger is looking to counter punch.

Yoshi clinches up with Swagger and pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Yoshi - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Yoshi trying to stall but Swagger improves his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yoshi tries for a takedown but Swagger manages to get underhooks.
Johnny Swagger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leonardo Yoshi.
Swagger lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Yoshi backwards.

Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Swagger lands an uppercut.
Yoshi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Swagger smiles and moves away.
Swagger looks to score with a jab to the body but Yoshi is just out of range.
Swagger throws the left hand but Yoshi avoids the punch easily.
Yoshi shoots in and drives through. Swagger sprawls well.
Yoshi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yoshi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Swagger counters with a straight right hand.

Yoshi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Swagger, pushing him back against the cage.
Yoshi has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Swagger seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Yoshi can turn it around.
Swagger working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Yoshi can't get the takedown.

Swagger escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Swagger misses with a looping right.
Yoshi drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Swagger defends it well.
Leonardo Yoshi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Yoshi closes the distance and pushes Swagger back into the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Swagger manages to break the clinch.
Yoshi tries to clinch but Swagger moves out of range.
It looked like Swagger was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Yoshi.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yoshi darts in looking for a takedown but Swagger gets double underhooks and turns Yoshi into the cage.
Yoshi has a takedown stuffed.
Swagger throwing a counter right hand but Yoshi manages to avoid it.
Yoshi moves in looking to clinch but Swagger pushes him off.
It looked like Swagger was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Yoshi.
Yoshi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Swagger counters with a straight right hand.
Swagger connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Yoshi's hands.
Yoshi fails with the takedown
and Swagger counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Swagger lands a nice looking body shot.
Yoshi fails to land the takedown.
Yoshi shoots and misses
and Swagger counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Yoshi looks winded!
Yoshi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Swagger connects with a crisp jab.
Yoshi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Swagger dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Yoshi moves in looking to clinch but Swagger pushes him off.
Swagger slaps away a takedown attempt from Yoshi, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Yoshi shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Yoshi is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Swagger has managed to free his arm - good work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yoshi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yoshi wants to stand but Swagger has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Yoshi looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Swagger is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Swagger is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Yoshi can do to turn this around?
Yoshi trying to control the action but Swagger is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Yoshi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Yoshi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Yoshi is keen to just control but Swagger is a slippery customer.
Yoshi moves nicely into side control.
Swagger stops Yoshi from passing to mount.
Swagger wants to control but Yoshi postures up.
Swagger on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Swagger tries to get out of the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yoshi trying to control the position but Swagger is working away.

Yoshi in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Swagger is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Leonardo Yoshi!
Leonardo Yoshi decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
