The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivas shoots in and drives through. Eyes sprawls well.
Eyes is looking to clinch but Rivas is avoiding it.

Eyes takes the fight into the clinch.
Rivas drops down looking for an ankle pick but Eyes pulls his leg out and moves away.
Chief Eyes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rivas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Eyes has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Eyes has Rivas up against the cage in a clinch.
Rivas lands a hook that snaps the head of Eyes backwards.

I was talking to Rivas's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Rivas has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Eyes regains guard immediately.
Eyes can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rivas controls the pace.

Eyes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rivas is controlling him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Eyes uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Eyes is looking to clinch but Rivas is avoiding it.

Rivas misses with a takedown attempt - Eyes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Eyes tries to close the distance and clinch but Rivas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Eyes fails to land with a series of punches.

Eyes tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Rivas tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Rivas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Eyes takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Rivas works the jab nicely.

Eyes moves to clinch but Rivas breaks away

and Rivas counters with a shoot takedown. Eyes fights it but they end up in guard.
Eyes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Eyes wriggles free and stands up.
Rivas digs a good hook to Eyes's body.
Eyes tries to clinch up but Rivas circles away and keeps his distance.
Rivas shoots in for a takedown but Eyes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Rivas keeps the fight on the outside.

Eyes is rocked!

It looks like Chief Eyes has been cut.
Eyes takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Violencia Rivas will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Rivas dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Eyes has had enough and taps out.
