PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Temirlan Ashimov (ranked 3410 p4p, 371 weight class) and Kamil Reljic (ranked 7662 p4p, 572 weight class). Ashimov kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is System Of A Down - Chop Suey!. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ashimov connects with a body shot that sends Reljic's belly button to the back.
Good exchange - Ashimov coming out on top.
Ashimov comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Ashimov jabs at Reljic's body.
Ashimov moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
A lazy left from Ashimov finds it's target.
Reljic with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ashimov to score with a decent uppercut.
Ashimov lands a right hook to the body.
Ashimov fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Reljic looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ashimov is looking to wear down Reljic with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Reljic takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Reljic tries to clinch up but Ashimov circles away and keeps his distance.
Ashimov swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Reljic.
Reljic closes the distance but Ashimov moves to the side
and Ashimov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Ashimov steps into range and cracks Reljic with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Reljic flops backwards and Ashimov dives into his guard looking to finish!

Reljic is still in real trouble! Can Ashimov finish him?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Reljic lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Reljic seems to have recovered his senses.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ashimov holds on and takes a little breather.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reljic wanted to stand there but Ashimov had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ashimov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ashimov looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Ashimov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Ashimov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reljic on the ground.

Ashimov landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ashimov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Reljic with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Ashimov is thwarting Reljic's attempts to control the position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ashimov lands a nice short elbow.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ashimov connects with a nice short shot to Reljic's temple.
Ashimov is trying to control. Reljic wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ashimov is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Reljic is refusing to be controlled, as Ashimov sits in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reljic won't allow Ashimov to pass to mount.
Ashimov looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Ashimov is nestled in close to Reljic, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Reljic looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Ashimov is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ashimov is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Reljic as he works his way to full guard.

Ashimov drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Reljic dives on top into guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ashimov drops Reljic with a right and a left! Ashimov comes rushing in but Reljic regains his composure and manages to keep Ashimov in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ashimov loads up on a big left hand. Reljic felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Ashimov looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Reljic can't hide his disappointment, as Ashimov celebrates the victory.
