PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Lawson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Lambe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrew Lambe will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Lawson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Lambe!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lambe's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Lambe duly obliges.


It looks like Anthony Lawson has been cut.
Lambe tries to clinch up.

Lambe moves into range and clinches up with Lawson.

Lambe jumps guard.

Lawson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Lawson is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Lambe still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Lambe has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Lambe is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lawson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lambe throws a head kick that Lawson semi-blocks.
Lambe moves in looking to clinch but Lawson pushes him off.

Lambe connects with a couple of short punches.

Lawson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lambe is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Lawson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lambe's back instead.
Lambe rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Lawson passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Lambe!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lawson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lambe looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Lambe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
