Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keith Bowers (ranked 25342 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Young (ranked 5723 p4p, 0 weight class). Young is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Straight Outta Compton. Jack Young acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Keith Bowers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Young!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young misses the jab.
Bowers fails with an attempt to clinch.
Young drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bowers defends it well.

Bowers shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Young blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bowers.
Young is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Bowers is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Young doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bowers.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Young wants to get back to his feet.
Bowers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Young moves into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Young lands a decent shot there.
Bowers won't allow Young to sweep him here.

Bowers loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Young pulls Bowers in close to prevent any damage.

Young looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Young has his hands on Bowers's head, controlling the position.
Young lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Young seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Young is standing up over Bowers. Bowers looks to escape but Young dives into side control.
Young advances nicely into full mount.
Young controlling the position easily from mount.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Young is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bowers can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Bowers is trying to reverse the position but instead Young has taken his back - oops!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Young is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Young gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Young gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Young apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Bowers closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Young quickly recovers to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Young can do anything to dispel that myth.
Young wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Bowers showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Young.
Bowers swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Young. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Young looking to score a takedown here. Bowers is defending well but Young drives through and ends up in Bowers's guard.

Bowers manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Bowers is trying to drag Young to the mat but Young just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Young has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bowers uses from the top position.
Young is adopting a defensive guard.
Young's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Bowers stops Young from standing up.
Bowers is standing up over Young. Young looks to escape but Bowers dives into side control.
Jack Young has got the better of the ground game so far.
Young manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bowers's best efforts.
Young preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Young moves into full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bowers avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bowers throwing strikes from guard but Young blocks nicely.
Young is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bowers prevents Young from getting back to his feet.

Young looking for subs off his back but Bowers has passed one foot through into half guard.
Young has his hands clasped together around Bowers's back. He's all about the action.
Young on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Young works his way to full guard. Good work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bowers slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Young.
Bowers prevents Young from improving his position.
Young is looking to get back to full guard here but Bowers has managed to pass to side control instead.
Young tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Young tries to lock up and control but Bowers gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Young bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Young stands and throws Bowers's legs to the side, diving into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jack Young will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Bowers's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Bowers displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Young throws out the jab.
Young throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Young tries to control but Bowers wriggling away.
Young lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Young is stalling here but it's allowed Bowers to get half guard.
Young has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Bowers is staying active underneath Young, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Young decides to stand and escape the position.

Young shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bowers's guard.
Bowers looking to hit a scissor sweep but Young is one step ahead there.
Young works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Young seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Young is nestled in close to Bowers, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Bowers wants to get back to his feet.

Bowers kicks Young off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Keith Bowers has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jack Young is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Jack Young comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Young has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Jack Young started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
