PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Duff (ranked 2830 p4p, 309 weight class) and Bornas Lopette (ranked 3197 p4p, 333 weight class). Lopette has chosen Root Of All Evil as his entrance music. Tony Duff had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tony Duff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 27 - 3, fighting out of New York, Bornas Lopette!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duff changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lopette tries to avoid it but Duff manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lopette to the ground. Lopette escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Duff looks for a takedown but Lopette sprawls well.
Lopette misses with a head kick.
Lopette tests Duff's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Duff avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Lopette leaves Duff with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Lopette shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Lopette turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Duff takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looked like Duff wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Lopette lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Both fighters circling a little - Lopette finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

A decent looking cross lands there for Lopette.
Duff walks into a straight right hand from Lopette.

Duff drives through with a takedown into Lopette's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Lopette wriggles free and stands up.
Lopette keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Duff closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Duff drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lopette manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Duff has Lopette in his guard.

Duff has his foot on Lopette's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lopette works his way back into a safe position though.

Lopette got a little sloppy there for a moment and Duff has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lopette has managed to get both his arms back between Duff's legs - danger averted.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Duff accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lopette utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

I would just about give that final round to Bornas Lopette.
I've got Lopette winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
