Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stephan Lee (ranked 5503 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Punches (ranked 5506 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stephan Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Punches!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee scores with a takedown into Punches's guard.

Punches is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Lee tries for a takedown but Punches manages to get underhooks.
Punches tries to break the clinch but Lee is controlling the position.

Punches decides to pull guard.
Punches wants to sweep but no luck.

Lee is fighting to break Punches's control of his arms but Punches is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Lee will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Punches is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lee is aware though and is defending well.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Punches closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lee quickly recovers to half guard.
Lee is concentrating on defense, preventing Punches from advancing position.
Still in half guard, Punches seems content to control.
It looks like Punches might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Punches wants to get back to his feet.
Punches is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Lee takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Lee looks for a takedown but Punches sprawls well.
Lee closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Lee can't get the takedown.

Lee gets control of Punches's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lee will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Lee wants to get back to his feet but Punches is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Punches must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lee pulls Punches in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Punches tries to sprawl but Lee drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Lee is thwarting Punches's attempts to control the position.
Punches is looking for a sweep. Lee is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Lee is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Punches has managed to free his arm - good work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lee is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Lee is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Punches preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Lee looking for a submission but Punches manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lee won't allow Punches to get back to his feet.
Jason Punches has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lee missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Punches has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Punches clinches up with Lee and pushes him back against the cage.

Lee has Punches pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Lee pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Punches tumbling to the mat - Lee dives into Punches's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Punches wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Lee drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Punches manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lee has Punches in his guard.

Lee wants to stand up but Punches is controlling him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Punches moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jason Punches will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Lee throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Punches.
Punches looks for the body kick but Lee saw that one coming.
Stephan Lee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Punches tries to clinch up.
Punches fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Lee throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Punches was covering up waiting for the punch and Lee finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Lee is working Punches over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Punches wants to free his trapped foot but Lee is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Lee is not content to let Punches control the position.

Lee has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Punches is on him like a limpet, forcing Lee back against the cage.
Lee is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Punches gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Punches trying to control the position but instead, Lee has worked for underhooks and has pushed Punches into the cage.
Punches throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

The referee is keeping an eye on Punches - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Punches is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Punches gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Lee wants to stand and escape but Punches is having none of it.
Punches wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.

Lee has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Punches can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jason Punches is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stephan Lee.
Well Punches has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
